Warrenton, Oregon was first settled by Europeans in 1848.  Although the area was initially discovered on behalf of the United States in 1806 by the Lewis and Clark Expedition, with Clatsop County being the westernmost point reached by that expedition, the neighboring City of Astoria was settled first. Warrenton was formally platted in 1889, and was incorporated as a city in 1899.

The City of Warrenton is built on tidal flats. In its early days, it was protected from flooding by a series of dykes and canals built by Chinese laborers.  Many Warrenton, OR properties offer water views, and none are more than a few minutes? drive from the river. Planned communities such as Long Lake Estates offer luxurious homes with incredible, sweeping views and all of the most modern amenities available today. Although the city?s elevation is only eight feet above sea level, flooding has not historically been a problem ? as the many historic Warrenton, OR properties still in use can attest.

Warrenton?s history is inextricably tied to the Columbia River, and even today the river is a source of pleasure, sport, and income for owners of Warrenton, OR properties.  Chinook salmon are rampant in the spring and fall seasons, drawing thousands of sport fishermen to the area. Steelhead fishing is limited and highly anticipated. Creek fishing is also popular. Sturgeon fishing tops it all ? the season results in over 170,000 angler trips each year, with about 30,000 ?keeper-sized? sturgeons pulled from the waters of the Columbia. Fishing licenses are necessary in most cases.

From historic homes to the great outdoors, Warrenton, OR Real Estate offer buyers of all kinds of unparalleled access to one of the most beautiful areas of the Pacific Northwest. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast, an entrepreneur, a parent looking for an excellent school system, or an artist looking for an inspiring community, you will feel right at home in Warrenton.
