Seaside, Oregon is exactly what its name implies: a city by the sea. Located in Northwest Oregon near the delta of the Columbia River, Seaside is an idyllic beach town with an atmosphere reminiscent of Cape Cod and Nantucket.  Immensely popular among vacationers, the city is a seasonal destination for many Portland area professionals and their families.  Summer is not the only time of year to enjoy Seaside, however ? the climate is mild year-round, despite the city?s northerly location, and opportunities for outdoor recreation present themselves in all seasons.

Seaside is located in Clatsop County, at the northwestern tip of the state of Oregon. The Washington state line is only about a 20-minute drive from most Seaside, OR real estate, on the far side of the Columbia River delta.  Water activities are highly favored among Seaside residents, and include surfing, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and fishing. Seaside?s city beach is also a prominent part of the city?s culture, as it is the most heavily used in all of Oregon. With its 250-foot wide stretch of pale, gently sloping sands, the beach is perfect for sunset walks.  Some believe that the beach is at its most appealing in fall and winter, when the crowds have left and the light is milder and diffused. Those who own Seaside, OR Properties also enjoy the historic promenade, which borders the beach at nearly two miles long. The promenade is popular with runners, bikers, and walkers, especially in the morning and early evening.

Seaside is home to a year-round population of about 6,000 people living in about 2,700 households. About 25 percent of households include children under the age of 18, and about 19 percent of the population is aged 65 or older. As of the 2000 census, median household income in Seaside was slightly below the Oregon average at $31,000, and median income for families was $41,000.

Tourism is the major industry in Seaside. The most common occupations among Seaside, OR real estate owners include food service and accommodations, health care, and construction/maintenance. Children residing in Seaside attend Seaside Heights Elementary School, Broadway Middle School, and Seaside High School, all of which are governed by the highly commended Seaside School District.  The school district serves a total of 1,700 students from Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Gearhart.
